Cloud 9 Boardwalk Siargao: Where to Watch the WSL 2026
For 11 days from 31 October, the best surfers in the world compete at a reef break in General Luna. Most of the crowd will be out on the boardwalk under the newly rebuilt Cloud 9 tower, and some of the best seats on the island won't be on the reef at all.
The Philippines Pro presented by the Philippine Sports Commission is the first World Surf League Championship Tour event ever held in the Philippines, and the Cloud 9 boardwalk Siargao watches from is the seat.
Some of what a spectator needs is already settled. A surprising amount is not, and that gap is the thing to plan around.

What the Cloud 9 Boardwalk Siargao Looks Like Now
Here's the good part. The boardwalk reaches right out over the reef and ends above the takeoff zone, so you're not squinting at specks from a beach 200 metres back. You're out over the wave, looking straight down the line. That's the whole reason it's there.

And the tower at the end of it is finally back. Super Typhoon Odette devastated the Cloud 9 towers in December 2021, and for years all that stood there was a single storey platform. The Philippine Sports Commission started rebuilding it in April 2026, and it now stands as a three storey watchtower built for spectators and media.
So when the surfing world arrives at the end of October, a proper tower will be waiting for them, right over the best spot on the reef.

Why the Philippines Pro Dates Are a Window, Not a Schedule
This is the part that catches out first time spectators, and it decides how many nights you book.
The 31 October to 10 November dates are a waiting period. Championship Tour events run when the ocean is worth running them in. Some days are on. Some are called off. The finals land wherever the best swell lands, and nobody can name that day in advance.

Cloud 9 makes it sharper than most stops. Surfline rates it an advanced wave and notes it works best on typhoon swells, which arrive from the Pacific rather than on any tidy local cycle. Offshore here is a southwest wind, and the wave holds its shape best on a higher tide.
Book the window rather than a day. Two nights aimed at a guess is how people end up watching the final on a phone at the airport.

The Local Surfer to Watch at Cloud 9
John Mark Tokong has won this event four times. Seven starts, five finals, and the four highest heat totals anyone's ever posted here. He grew up on this reef, and he's got a wildcard straight into the Championship Tour version of the event he keeps winning.
He said it best to Tempo: "This is our dream. Now it's happening. I never thought that the World Tour would be held on Cloud 9."

And there are still two more wildcards to be won. They go to the man and woman who take the Philippines Pro CT Trials, run at Cloud 9 just before the main event. So if you're on the island early, don't skip the Trials. Two Filipino surfers will earn a Championship Tour start that week, right in front of everyone they grew up with.

How a Siargao Surfing Competition Became a CT Stop
The World Surf League describes the Siargao international surfing cup, first held in 1996, as the longest running international surfing event in the Philippines. The Siargao surfing competition joined the Qualifying Series in 2014 as a modest QS 1,500. Then it grew. QS 3,000 by 2017, QS 5,000 in 2024, and QS 6,000 in 2025, when over 180 surfers showed up for the 29th edition.
This year the wave graduates to the Championship Tour, booked for 2026 and 2027, and nothing else on Siargao's 2026 schedule comes close.
